    The Pulitzer Prize for Fiction is one of the seven American Pulitzer Prizes that are annually awarded for Letters, Drama, and Music. It recognizes distinguished fiction by an American author, preferably dealing with American life, published during the preceding calendar year. The Pulitzer Prize is a U.S. award for achievements in newspaper journalism, literature and musical composition. It was established by Joseph Pulitzer and is administered by Columbia University in New York City. There are six categories in letters and drama.

    The winners of the Pulitzer Prize in the Letters category have been announced by the Pulitzer Prize Board, with categories in the book award section including Fiction, History, Biography, Poetry and General Nonfiction. This book concentrates on Russia-related Pulitzer Prize-winning reports and editorial cartoons from leading American newspapers. The reports cover the span from the early stages of the Soviet Union under Lenin through to the Russian Federation under Putin.
